One Disease
One Disease is a non-profit organisation founded, operated and funded by Dr Sam Prince. One Disease aims to systematically target and eliminate neglected diseases from Australia. Believing no Australian should die of a preventable disease, it is the first elimination campaign of its kind.
The organisation's first initiative is to eliminate Crusted Scabies from remote Indigenous communities in Australia by 2022.
Crusted scabies is a highly contagious and debilitating skin disease that affects 1 in 409 Indigenous people and if left untreated, these individuals have a 50% mortality rate over 5 years. Our Healthy Skin Program is culturally respectful and is built together with the Indigenous communities in which we work.
In 2018 Dr Sam Prince was recognised for his work in One Disease and received the Ernst and Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year award.
